Key Fobs and Traction Control Killed by 7-pin Trailer?

Here are symptoms:

When I connect a 7-pin trailer to the factory installed tow package:
1) the VSC OFF and VSC TRACK warning lights come on
2) Key fob no longer operates - will not lock or open doors

The trailer lights work just fine and doors operate normally with the key and door switches.
When I unplug the 7-pin trailer connector all goes back to normal.

This does NOT happen with a four pin trailer, and I DO NOT have trailer brakes, so it seems related to the back up light circuit.

Anyone ever come across anything like this?

I also have the same issue and all trailer lights continue to work. One difference with my set up is my trailer does have brakes.

It doesn't happen all the time when towing with the 7 pin connection, but when it does occur I can reset everything by shutting the truck off and unplugging the connection between the trailer and the truck and then plugging it back in again and restarting the engine. Seems to work for a while after resetting things, but I have not found anything yet that would obviously be the source. If I don't shut the engine off when trying to reset things the VSC, etc. won't reset. I have checked all the fuses and traced most of the wires on both the LC and trailer to no avail.

If anyone has some insight it would be greatly appreciated as this is a nagging "to do" on my list.
