Hoping a Mudder can help out..
I posted this in the "Toyota/Lexus Door Lock Actuator Group Buy NEW!!!
thread and have ordered 5 of the new motors from Jonathan. He thinks (and so do I) that the motor is not the only cause of the strange behavior on my truck. Posting out here so it is not buried in that thread.

My '98 100 has the developed the following issue over the past 2 months, not sure if this falls into the Door Lock Actuator issue:
- First it started locking itself after I had the truck unlocked and doors opened then closed. Not the unlock, forget to open door = re-lock. Owned the LC since new so this was a "new feature".
- replaced battery in remote, "seemed to fix" for a while.
- Next the remote on the key would intermittently not want to lock the doors. I would be able to "unlock" the doors w the remote then the "lock" button would work. I did notice that the key fob remote red LED would start flashing and stay flashing even when not near the truck. Flashes about every second.
- As of yesterday, the remote will only sporadically work and the truck is now "possessed" as in locks and unlocks (flashes lights) randomly if key is near the truck. Once ignition is on, this behavior stops.
- after reading this and a number of other threads on programming the keys, I hit the lock / unlock buttons over and over. After about 10 sequences, the drivers door lock lever (small lever by door handle) would stick half way. This leads me to the door lock actuator motor being part of the problem. - I will replace drivers actuator motor and any others that stick.

Through all of this, the key works to open the doors, the power lock unlock buttons have worked (except my stress test this AM). Of course after owning the 100 since new and three kids, I have one key for the truck like most of the rest of the Mud members.

Actuator motors, ECU, Key fob remote guts? Has anyone had these symptoms before? Searching on blinking remote / fob/ etc. only seems to leads to threads on how to program a key..

Sounds like bad internals in the remote key. Actuators are probably a separate problem, but bad actuators can cause alarm problems, so maybe they are related somehow.

I'd start by ordering a non remote key from eBay, getting it cut and programmed using instructions found on the forum. Keep the old remote key far from the truck and see if you get normal lock operation from the new key (manual only, obviously). Then you'll also have a reliable second key. Replace your bad actuators and then start to troubleshoot your remote key. I'm betting the internal part of your remote key just crapped out due to age.

Thanks for the reply Larry. Heading over to fleabay to see what is available.

I'm pretty sure I picked up eBay item #321094951740. It lists compatibility with your '98. Hope that helps.

Thanks, and #220945535222 for the complete "remote" key. I have to ask Sam or Beno what the cost through them would be.
