Kawasaki Bandsaw

Northern Tool has a Vertical bandsaw for $139.00, with free shipping. Anyone have any experience with Kawasaki tools or purchased this saw? Any opinions on this, it looks like a decent deal with free shipping included.

With a 2.5 amp motor it should cut through thin plastic like butter. What do you plan on cutting with it?

it looks like it for a hobbiest that does crafts.

I am looking at something for light to medium metal fab work.

I am more than likely going to get the Jet horizontal/vertical machine.

Also just an FYI - ihave a ciut off saw so the idea of a vertical only sounded good, but the low amperawge motor had me concerned as well. Thanks for you opinion and reply.

Just asking for opinions. What size motor should a decent band saw have?

A decent bandsaw (Delta, Powermatic, Jet) should have at least a 1hp motor.

For a high end bandsaw (Laguna, 18" Delta, Felder, Powermatic) will have up to a 5-10hp motor on 1 or 3 phase hook up.

The rest are craft/hobby stuff, (Craftsman, Ryobi...)

Which, for comparison/reference, translates to something like 12-13 amps IIRC.
