I noticed something the other day with my horn. If I have the wheel turned it won't blow. Yet when I turn the wheel back and am driving straight it works normal. Is this normal? It's almost like it's a short but much to consistante to be a short. Yea, I know kind of a lime thread.

i had to shim my horn ring with washers to make it work. make sure you clean the copper ring and the contact post to get off the oxidation. pencil eraser works good

The horn ring can wear, but might not be the problem. More likely is that the horn pin (which contacts/rubs against the horn ring) is worn. The horn pin is a wear item. It's cheap - maybe $6 for both the ring and pin.

mine works probably once every few weeks... doesnt really bother me, but it surprises me and i get weird looks when im drummin away on the steering wheel and all the sudden i start honking all over the place

I didn't thing the horn contact pin and spring were available anymore from Toyota. Can someone confirm?

x2 on availability, because mine could stand to be replaced

I bought the pin and spring a few months ago for $6 from American Toyota. It wasn't a stock item. P/N 84312-20011.

I need to do this fix as well, horn doesn't work when turned. It didn't bother me until I was backing out of a parking spot with the wheel turned and a lady began backing out behind me at the same time without looking. I went to lay on the horn so she'd know I was there but it didn't work! Fortunately she saw me in time but it encouraged me to do this fix fast.

Pretty sure they are still available.

When I saw your post, I thought you were going to say "I noticed my horn sounds really ghey..."

had the same problem too. At least yours works straight ahead... my passengers used to think I was swerving at other cars when actually I was just turning my wheel hard left to honk at them. Heh, heh...

Bought mine from the Toyo dealership in Humble last month. They did have to order it but they had it in 24 hours if I remember correctly and mine ended up being like $11, I think.
