For $2,500 and the upgrades already made to that truck, I'd say you made a pretty solid deal!

If it's running a header, it has maybe been through a de-smog. There's LOTS of way to do that wrong - it's not as simple as just pulling everything emmisions related. If you have to pass emmisions you may be spending a bit of time and cash undoing that, otherwise making sure the de-smog was done right might be a good place to begin. Search Mud and ask lots of questions. Start with the FAQ linked here for smog and other items to run down

You did great on the price. NO WAY that you could even buy the upgrades for the $2.5K. 2X on the emissions situation. You need to get the requirements figured out or how to get around them. Also, if you are driving on salty roads in CT, you need to start preventative measures to deal with future rust. I never had any experience with it but many of our Canadian members swear by a spray application of old motor oil annually. From the looks of the cruisers that I have had, anywhere that you are leaking oil is pristine metal underneath so that may be the best approach. Also, some of the "over regulated" states have all sorts of picky stuff about bumper height, tag lights, etc. Welcome!

nice deal, cool truck.

plans for the new one?

is the fate of that runner known, im partial to that era runner.
