This rig is Canadian and very very original. It is rusty as hell but the frame bones are good. Ambo doors original 5 speed and 4 cylinder diesel with power steering and original dash. Nope not for sale. I'm gonna build this one.

I have no idea what the BORAT I am doing yet.

The rust can apparently be fixed with high quality patch panels according to PO. I think the Canadians put a lot of fiberglass around the doors and rear panels. What are some of the challenges I face...

I paid 13k for this rig and I need some people to share their experiences.

I looked at that truck yesterday on eBay and thought there's no way someone would pay $13,600 I believe for that. To be honest you are into some serious rust on that truck. Anything can be fixed but how much are you willing to spend

Congrats on your new project. 84 is a great year to be working on, it's an add value for sure.

Do some research, you will see a ton of build up threads dealing with similar issues. I would wait and make a list before ordering panels. Maybe a new tub would be cheaper?

Great site there and there prices seem pretty good, I would make a list like Ambrew said and get a complete tub and paint it beige. Make sure you tag and bag every part you take off.

Body work and tub/fender swap Pacol
Sand blast everything else meticulously
Treat all left over rust after the tub swap and prime
new bolts and threads
new window rubber and door seals
new headliner
reupholster seats

Fix 5th gear issue
add old man emu suspension
Restore calipers
rebuild radiator maybe add a core
Reseal entire engine and tranny and transfer cases
add new lines for everything

Done right?

Hi, Have fun ! Really there will be much more than you ever thought of . Find a good machine shop and treat your friends to food and drinks for help. Mike

Nice project to start with. Had 1983 BJ42 that I bought from Kansas 4 years ago and still in my garage taking space and called it "garage eye sore". Wish I had time working on it but I still have plan of buying one.
