Sorry for the hack drawings.

1” wide piece the length of the inner radius of the upper pod. Glued between the foam and the vinyl so you don’t see it.

My theory is the foam eventually swells as it’s likely slightly hygroscopic. The vinyl eventually weakens and can’t hold the foam back. It’s the same with FJ55 glovebox doors. Not saying what you suggest wouldn’t work but you would need to dig some foam out first.

I thought mine was bad!

I was actually going to see if my fiberglass guy could make a glass version of these with a face so people could mount whatever they wanted in them. Seems like a good idea....

These are designed for Defenders, but are similar looking to the LC pods, and might be a good solution. I think some 60 series folks use them.

I considered these but I honestly want nothing on my truck designed for a Rover :)

They're a cool part....I was going to buy one to play with but never got around to it. I'd really like to do a fiberglass one but I have a feeling not many people would want them.

Another productive day today. Starting to button up interior things which is great. I would think most of it will be together tomorrow.

This cool piece came in....now I've got all the gears :)

EGT probe installed....

Was able to sneak my gauge pod face in at the powdercoaters....they were doing a batch of textured black.

Got it back, mounted the screen and one (1) piece of flair :)

I'm not a huge fan of badges and logos.....not sure if this will make it to the finals but it's kind of cool looking.

We'll paint the circuit board black around the screen so it won't be visible. Seems like my cutout for the gauge wasn't as precise as I thought...

I love so much of what you do, and that gauge pod looks awesome ... but that screen just looks like a stuck on monitor. Sorry man, know the screen real estate is useful

Trust me, I'm not a fan of these in newer cars and I'm not a fan in this truck but I think it will be useful.....I spend too much time squinting at the standard size ones now days. Not a fan of the gauge pod either.....the truck had such a clean dash before.

I think when it's all together and operational, it will look a little better.....hopefully just fades into the dash.

When it’s all said and done, it only needs to please 1 person. :)

I'm a very difficult person to please so there's a good chance it will all come out :)

Solid day today on the truck......we concentrated on our front end stuff as we had a few changes that needed to be addressed, specifically the condenser and the trans cooler.

I contacted the guys at Wholesale Automatic Transmission about cooling requirements for the A442 and what they recommend since they put autos in VDJs....and they of course don't have a cooler in the radiator since they were manuals.

They recommended this trans cooler from a HDJ100.

Had to make a few brackets for it but it seems to fit nice.....

Slipped the condenser in...mounted it a little differently. Looks like one line will need to be changed. I ended up NOT using an OEM one as this one has worked well. One day if I redo the AC, I'll pop an OEM one in.

Since we're using the 1FZ radiator and a 1HZ shroud to fit the 1HDT motor, some of our mounts didn't line up. Fabbed up a couple little brackets to hold the shroud on. LOTS of brackets today.

Steering column back in.....gauge cluster plugged in. Word on the street is, we'll be powering her up tomorrow. So we won't go any further with reassembly until we see how things are doing once that red cable goes to the +

This will be swapped out tomorrow on the column. Not sure if I documented this or not but the wiper switch that was in the truck....intermittent....required some kind of wiper relay box or something to make it work correctly....my wipers left a lot to be desired....they were kind of lazy. I don't mind lazy people but not lazy wipers :) The wiring wizard found that the wiring in the truck was from the 80 and the 80 had that magic box but my truck didn't have a magic box. This switch is simple....we lose intermittent but pick up the 'mist' function.....no magic box required. So I think I'm going to have normal non-lazy wipers AND I get the mist function which I remember on my first gen 4runner as being a favorite thing.

Wiring. More wiring and more wiring however the end is near.....we are installing tomorrow.

This is the body harness for the front of the truck. Lots going on here and quite a bit getting changed. Biggest change was wiring for the alternator as it moves from drivers side of the 1FZ to the passenger side of the 1HDT.

Engine harness still needing a little work but not much....

I put myself in charge of buttoning up the fuel filter plumbing as well as making the high pressure line for the power steering and sorting out what we would need for pump to cooler, cooler to reservoir. I love using AN stuff on the trucks so I'll convert anything that wasn't AN to AN. My bank account will not thank me for that.

I've been using PSC Motorsports fittings and lines for a while now. They offer both a 16mmx1.5 and 17mmx1.5 fittings to convert the Toyota box(and pump) to 6AN fittings as well as re-useable 6AN 90 degree ends that allow you to assemble your own lines.
