early 80?.... cheap if you look in the right places
I am not sure if I can make it now....might be replacing R&P in both diffs since I think the front is messed up anyhow and making some noise. Depends on total cost but I might have to bail and just plan on meeting up for the big run in September.
The wife and I plan to attend. The 75 is running and passed inspection this morning. I was worried some unknown regulation or the km speedometer would cause it to fail. Thankfully the guys were more concerned about the horn and add on horn not working-appears to be a short in the wiring.
No emissions for a truck that old, just a basic safety check. I just had my '92FJ80 in for inspection. They didn't fail it, in the system anyway (these guys treat me well
), but wouldn't give me the passed inspection due an exhaust leak near one of the O2 sensors?

what???? the inspection on my 92 is just a visual
Yep, just the vehicle safety inspection for '96 models and newer, and no inspection at all for vehicles 35 yrs old and older.

So why wouldn't they pass you?

I passed the last 2 years with my desmogged FJ40 with headers. I'm exempt now from all inpsections since its a '75.
I have heard of some sticking a newer resonator where the cat used to be for looks only or gutting the cat completely....highly illegal but I hear it has been done.
that still makes no sense for a visual, when I first moved here I had a huge exhaust leak and since it was a visual they passed me
Mine passes here but i happen to know Where to go.
Depends on the inspector, is my guess. The local Toyota dealership wouldn't pass me, because they knew it leaked. They did not fail me, so it was like I never had it inspected yet. If I take it elsewhere and they don't know/find the leak, I'll be good!
