Ron, I could weld it for you, but we need to go to Doc's for that. I could do it at my house, but all I have is a stick welder. I would prefer to mig weld it.

yeah my tire carrier is easy....just need help holding it in place. the frame modification is easy too as the cuts are non-stress or load bearing areas...it is just trimming up like trimming your nails. So I will do the cutting and welding if someone will show me how to weld if you guys are worried about it. All we are doing is boxing it in to put a cap on the frame to keep out gunk...it is where body mounts to frame and it sticks out an extra 2-3 inches past the mount point like the toe of a shoe...and rubs large tires...so we are just going to trim the tips off and box it for looks and to keep out mud.

hardest part is removing front tires to make more room for the cutting and welding...:D :D

You are welcome here any time , and boxing in a frame is what I just finished, so no pro, but at least have done one.:beer:

if all else fails i will take a out of cycle trip to visit doc and work on it....and then have him show me the little juke joint at head of road to see if it is worthy or not. :D

If Jim can fit his welder in his 40, then we can do it here

That will work, we should be able to get it all done then.

figured you needed something other than bicycle frames to weld and play with....glad I can feed your addiction. :D :D :D :D

If I had one and the time I am sure my house would be like those ones you see in middle of nowhere out west with tons of scrap metal made into ART sitting in my yard....LOL

Hum maybe I can call all the repair projects in the yard art, might make it look better. :hhmm: Naw Junk is Junk or Treasure depending on your viewpoint. LOL Doc:cheers:

I know there are lots of qualified tech people on her to give advice, but just wanted to throw my .02 out to Mike about his clutch.

Get the factory Aisin clutch kit, not rebuilt or aftermarket. If you can't get it for under $300 through the dealership look online. Also I would do a new rear seal and oil pan gasket at the same time for insurance. Both are cheap, and prone to leaking, and the hard part is done once the clutch is out. The only extra labor is removing the flywheel, which should be resurfaced anyways, and dropping the pan. I would try to get a hold of a flywheel and have it resurfaced and ready to mount to save time taking it to the shop. Most shops won't do it while you wait anyways. Have plenty of fluid to replace the tranny/transfer oil too unless it was changed at Glen's shop.

Good luck!

Jeremy

I've got a flywheel here if you want it. It's out of a '72 w/ an F motor and 3 speed.
