At the last meeting we mentioned maybe trying to set schedule for a recurring date of month for planning purposes. How does the Second Saturday of each month sound? Seems like most holidays are first or last weekend or 3rd weekend.

If 13 June 2009 is a good date....not too close to our Uwharrie trip and weekend before GSMTR for a nice pre-Tellico Tune Up for those of you attending....then let it be known so we can finalize the date.

Then to decide where to hold it for that date....depending on who is available that weekend for some land cruiser love fest action. I will update first post as everyone participates.

HAMOM ITEMS:

1.- Brock= hope to have swing out tire carrier by then and also body mount chop as backup.
2- BBQBoy= clutch?
3- OCD= Brakes and swap springs on FJ40
4- MichaelJ= EGR Tube and gasket
5-

I need a new clutch installed.

not sure what is within realm of hamom and not...but we spent 14 hours on TTahara's front brakes so that leaves it wide open until Glenn or DBENKE tell me otherwise based on their experience. LOL

I thought your PRIUS was an automatic. :P

i dont think putting a new clutch will take nearly that long..but who knows..

Sounds good to me....I like the looks of that LexTech shop....Of course Docs is more "local" to me....haha

I've brake issues on the 40 as well as the springs need swapping from front to rear....New Bushings in the process...Maybe figure out why my axle vent blows gear oil at speed....

We can do a clutch, the big thing is the weight. If we do it at
Doc's, I know he doesn't have a trans jack. Glenn might.

if we do my body mount chop we will need a welder....i can do the cutting with a cutting wheel or sawzall....but will need to weld a piece of flat metal in its place to box in the area.

No but I do now have a really nice engine hoist that can drop the tranny/trans from above after removal of the trans hump. :) Look's like I will be here anyway working on little things like carb linkage and radiator supports. Got the extended range tank in the rig this weekend and all the associated pipes and hoses hooked up. Let me know if I need to get chow for a crowd. Beers still here and still cold if ya want one.

Won;t say that I am a welder but at least know how to turn on the machine and make a royal mess :whoops:but your welcome to bring David to do the deed and use the shop any time or at the hammon. :)

cant wait for you to get that rig on road Doc...I know nobody will be more relieved than you though.

True True, and each step brings it closer. Won't be long if you look at a geological time scale. :o:) Any way it's always avaliable for hammon work if we run out of other projects when we do a hammon here. Hope everything is good in your world Doc:cheers:

i need to get that EGR j-tube and gasket....

installed, would appreciate the help. I will order the stainless one from SOR.
Let me know a time and a place and what to bring. My tool selection is limited but i will help out in any way I can.

I don't think the clutch will take longer than a couple of hours.

Just want to put mine up on the lift and try to determine what needs done. To help decide on buying a different one or just keeping it.

Sorry guys i have'nt been able to chime inlately. A HAMON In June is fine with me. I've got 2 lifts, one is very comfortable for LC'S the other works OK for LC'S it just take a little extra effort to get them situated correctly for the Trucks. As far as BBQ'BOY'S clutch replacement that is a pretty cut and dry 2 to 3 hr job with the exception of having the flywheel re-surfaced. I Typically use McKnights Machine shop or Simmons Machine shop for the re-surfaces. There not open on weekends to my knowledge. However, O'Reillys here on the Island claims to resurface Disc's and flywheels and they are open on weekends, I don't use these guys for parts or machine work, I'll call this week and see if thats something they came do on a Saturay or Sunday.
As far as Brocks frame modification, that would be better for someone with proficient welding skills and equipment. As far as the tire carrier that also should be straight forward and an easy job
The ERG tUbe replacement is right up my ally though.
The inspection of the norhtern cruiser on the lift will be a:popcorn: we'll have to have had some:beer: for that one.:flipoff2: And sign a relaese order:clap:
Checking the DIFF Lock operation and diagnosing shouldn't be any problem at all. after diagnosing we can obtain the proper part or parts and repair at a later date if parts are needed, Hopefully we nat un seize them mnually.
Moving the springs on OCD's should be fairly straight forward as i suspect that the vehicle has been dressed in pink (clean as a royal princess) as it owner as has no known or hidden issues.

yeah my tire carrier is easy....just need help holding it in place. the frame modification is easy too as the cuts are non-stress or load bearing areas...it is just trimming up like trimming your nails. So I will do the cutting and welding if someone will show me how to weld if you guys are worried about it. All we are doing is boxing it in to put a cap on the frame to keep out gunk...it is where body mounts to frame and it sticks out an extra 2-3 inches past the mount point like the toe of a shoe...and rubs large tires...so we are just going to trim the tips off and box it for looks and to keep out mud.

hardest part is removing front tires to make more room for the cutting and welding...:D :D
