I got new Baofeng GMRS radios. Can someone help me set it up?

Now that ya'll are talking about it, I'm curious about the Baofeng UV-5GPlus. I always ran hard-wired Midland GMRS in previous rigs, but now that I'm swapping between 2 I was about to pull the trigger on the Midland GXT67Pro. Aside from the Beofeng being about 1/4th the cost of the Midland, I'm trying to see what capabilities it has vs. the Midland. When you speak of programming, are you talking about private channels you have setup for the Club or repeater access? It looks like the Baofeng has more capability in terms of programming so I can live with a slightly less durable/waterproof unit for those kinds of cost savings as long as folks have had good experience with that brand.
. I'd buy that for 1/4 or less the cost all day

I will agree with Ed. For the price of entry those little baofeng UV-5R's are really hard to beat. I have one that is easily 12-13 years old. I am currently running mobile units in my cruisers (just a preference is all) but use my spare HT's for when i am around camp and out of the truck when out on the trail or for loaners when necessary.
Yes for programming it is nice that we have the ability to go to "private" channels. Nice not to hear all the garbage from others etc. I can have the Chirp file to send to anyone that wants it or can program at the next meeting or whenever.
EDIT: I know some of the Midlands are programmable I just dont have any experience with them.

Yes, still lots of deals with 2 radios with upgraded batteries and antennas and other extras. Think with all the extras etc works out to just over 20$ a radio. With that said the standard battery will be just fine on the trail and charge overnight

I have two of these and bought the longer antenna's. They last for two days of trail wheeling. I like the hand held units due to me being out and spotting out of the vehicle.
