jump to unread post

I am accustomed to clicking the little grey dot next to the thread title as a method of jumping to the first unread post in a thread. It used to work, but doesn't now. Clicking that dot takes me to a seemingly random post in the thread, then I scroll to catch up to where I left off. I thought it might be because I wasn't a star member, but buying a star hasn't fixed it. Any thoughts? Is there a setting I'm not aware of?

Another thread discusses the issue...images load "after" content, so any thread with a lot of images messes up the unread positioning.

The alternative is to have that unread point load after all the images/content...which would create a completely different set of complaints
