Good trip. Shorter than the last one so was able to get to Missoula using the Jerry can for cheaper gas. Lost a tire trying to let a Jeep around on the trail. My teenager with the learners permit drove the whole trail and then some. Put a dent in the skid plate and running boards going to the lookout tower. Good times. Good memories.

I monitored engine and trans temps on this trip after I noticed the long slow hill climb from the Darby side shot the engine up to 207 and trans to 233. Talking with the group I think I was the only one that could see trans temps. The 80 in the group hit 207 engine and the Taco had the trans temp light come on once. Checking in with JG lubricant services on this. They’ve been a great help on keeping old equipment with the right lubricant and seal compatibility as specs change and licenses expire.

200F is really relatively cool for transmission fluid. It can easily handle 250F or even 300F for some time.

Looks great! I wish I could have tagged along on this one, but it didn't seem like a good trip to take with dodgy brakes.
