Well went to pick up my bulbs today and found 1 GE and 1 Toshiba ???. Looks like I got the last GE as they subbed in the Toshiba on the order.

The new part # for the Toshiba is a s follows AH211917

The guy is taking care of me and ordering another Toshiba.

I got the the GE bulb :-\ I guess thats not good???
What does the Tobshiba look like?

I will take it as a test, we will se which bulb lasts the longest.

Cary should update the # of the Tobshiba to his FA? post.

landtank, I was feeling great about my JD bulbs.
Now I feel like I got jipped :o Thanks for ruining my day :flipoff2:

Second post:
LTank, install them both and let us know how the GE and Toshiba perform side-by-side! Does the Toshiba put out more lumens than the GE, or was that just D. Stern's version of New and Improved that only means the packaging is new and the profit margin is improved?

Having the John Deere low beams and the Toshiba high beams, all I can say is that if there is a difference between a JD HIR2 and a Toshiba HIR2 (low beam), it must be extremely minimal.

Sure, my high beams are brighter, but they are also 65 watt bulbs. My low beams are nice and bright, and I can't see the high beams minus 15 watts being any brighter.

Unfortunately without seeing the bulbs side by side, it is really impossible to tell if there is a difference. Comparing the high beam output to the low beam is like comparing how the LC drives to a Porsche.

Understand. But I still believe I can give an educated guess (not exact, of couse, but accurate enough for me) on what the differences would be: extremely minimal. Definitely not worth the expense of ditching the GE's and replacing them with Toshibas.

Do you have the Toshiba HIR2's or the JD/GE ones?

Just to make things clear the JD/GEs are now JD/Toshibas. The GEs are gone and have been subbed with the new part number that I posted earlier.

Since the last GE is in the next town over, if someone who has the GEs would like me to pick that up for a spare for them PM me and we can set something up.

I would definetely agree with that statement. There is absolutely no reason to get rid of the GE bulbs if you have them. If you are ordering them I would try and get the Toshiba bulbs.

Thats interesting as i just picked up a set of the GE's (ordered last Thursday) from my local JD parts desk...

$25.99 each.

Installing them along with a Slee harness tonight

I have had my JD HIR in (low beam 9012) for a couple of months. Just now getting around to ask this.

The PS does appear to provide as much light.

Both are the GE version. Both fit snuggly after triming. Both are level adjusted the same.

Is there something else in adjustment or otherwise I should look at? Is it possible I got a bum bulb?

Educate me, what is an HIR? ( I'm much more familiar with HID's.... ) and why John Deere?

Doc-

here's the FAQ thread on 80 series lighting.

Ok, I understand now- thanks!

Plenty of deere dealerships in the midwest- I'll have to pick up a set!
