"or by the 2.8-liter turbo diesel powertrain paired with a six-speed manual or five-speed automatic"

Anyone think the 2.8 will be available here?

Edit: I haven't look at Jeeps in years, so I have no idea which engine is good, or bad...

The rumor mill has the Grand Cherokee getting the turbo diesel in 2013 with 28 mpg in the city. Lots of folks want the turbo diesel in a wrangler, but that has not been confirmed.

Also, the artic edition looks like seat covers and paint.

I had a friend with a CRT liberty. They didn't sell enough, we all know how much America hates diesels. The dealer and NAPA both laughed when trying to get parts. I seriously doubt they will try the diesel route again.

Yeah, but gas prices weren't north of $3 four years ago. Diesel will appeal to a significant market if the automakers actually market it properly. Right now most Americans think big rig trucks or earth moving equipment and not sporty sedans or coupes.

I would agree if thee wasn't such price fixing going on in NA on diesel. Kills me every time I pay .20 MORE per gallon on a fuel that costs LESS to produce. Hopefully, diesels will catch on, and consumption will return to a more pure supply and demand model :D

I'm getting that emblem for my truck..... maybe I can sue them

If they did come out with the diesel.... I would be very, very tempted.... hell i'm already very very tempted with the new JK 4 door rubicon. New model has aroud 280HP... and a 53:1 crawl ratio from the factory.

Ask me how fast I would be at chevy if the new malibu had the same diesel engine/tranny combo as the Vauxhall did that I rented in Scotland last month...... a confirmed and recalculated imperial gallon v.s. US gallon MPG of 52 mpg averaged on one day with the average MPH around 80

I would be all over a 4 door rubicon with a diesel.

Chevy Cruze and Honda Civic are suppose to get Turbo Diesel next year.
