Whaddya think the snow is gonna be like on Barney Riley???
Seems like it'll be a pretty nice weekend.
I'm thinking based on the snow, eldorado might be a better choice.

Barney Riley Trail and Leviathen Mine - Off-Road trip - Spot | SpotAdventures

Some GPS tracks and the sat map is pretty good. Looks clear to find the road from the sat map, but it could be a mirage.
that is kind of the route we usually take except we don't do the jog to the shallow crossing. Which I guess you have to do now since the deep crossing is closed?

We were looking to come in from 395.

I don't know if we will make this one I've been busy with some side work for the past couple of weekends so I need to play catch up on the home front.

My thoughts, with the snow and the fact that we are not sure of the route from 395, that it may be a run left for nicer days. Then we could camp-as it is a cool place to camp. There are some steep climbs going to and from the river. It would be a bite to travel clear down there and not be able to complete the trip due to ice or snow on the trail. I realize that we are going to have some warm days between now and then. But you never know at that elevation. If it was closer to home then I say go for it. It could be an adventure left for more predictable days.

My vote is for Eldorado as it can be run on the road with a foot of snow on it. Last year there was about 6 inches and the FJ Crusier and my 4 runner did fine staying on the road. Granted the off camber stuff towards the end with snow on it is usually impassable unless you love the pucker:eek: and the the last muddy hill unless frozen solid is always a treat. But an in and out trip the same way is easy and less time consuming with less dirt road time out brunswick or the pinenut way. Sooooo...thats how I feel. The weather will be fine at 53 forcasted.

I'm willing to do whatever you guys want:hmm:...but thats how I feel

Who else is planning on this???
So far it's just mark and I?
I'm down with the out and back on eldorado, but I would prefer at least one or two other rigs as I'm still "breaking in" the new rig.
If we didn't go, I'd fix my trans leak, so no big deal either way for me!

I can do eldorado most likely. I might be able to find a few others to go along as well.

I think I'm actually gonna bail on this one! Hate to do it, but I'm leaking trans fluid while driving, so I think it'd be best to get that leak squared away. I was thinking I'd just let it go for now, but.... I've gotta take care of that as it's gonna be a full day project. I've gotta pull everything apart (seats, trans tunnel, shifters, both shafts, shifters etc.)

Sorry boys!!

I say we cancel/reschedule for another weekend so we can all go. I'm feelin the need to get my skiing going this year. I bought a season pass and haven't been able to go yet this year. Finally have some snow worth going up for.

That being said--If someone REALLY wants to do it this weekend I would go. Cause I hate bailing on people. Please post up your ideas. Thanks WillD420 for hangin in.

Sorry to hear about your Trans. Keith, hope you get it done. Sounds like mucho work for one day?

Thanks man!!! Not hard... Just didn't think there would be fluid in the tailshaft housing, so I didn't put any sealant there. Just a pita to get to it all. I'd probably be alright to go, but.... Better to get it done than wait.

Have you thought about just splitting the case about 1/2" and filling the gap with some sealant, then giving it a little while to skin up, then bolt it back together.

Might save you a bunch of labor having to pull it all the way out.

For where the Mating adapter is, I cant do that. I've gotta drop the cases and set it on the floor, unbolt the 203 adapter from the x member, un bolt the 203 adapter and seal that where it mates to the trans tailshaft housing. I'm gonna pick up a tube of great stuff from napa and use that as the sealant.
Wish there were an easy way to do it!!!
However, now I can properly remove the NSS and wire direct to the starter. While everything is out, I'll weld the tabs on the cage I need to. Get the radio and speakers wired in. It's not a total loss as a whole!!

I'm not going to be able to make it for the run either. Zach wants to go mountain biking.

Did anyone go?!?!
I did get my leak fixed... Presumably!!!
Good thing I stayed home too, cuz the adapter bolts were ALL LOOSE and causing the leak. I don't know if they came loose, or I forgot to torque em down. Either way, I Put some locktite on em.
Also 86'd the NSS.
