Hello,

Normally I don't come across 70-Series trucks as I live in the U.S. However, in April my wife and I will be headed to Australia with a PBS film crew, going in to national parks and the Outback and such. So, I need to up my game on 70-Series knowledge and identification. What are some good references that explain the differences between the models (J70 vs. J73 vs. J74, etc.) so I can spot 'em and know what they are? This includes troopy, wagon, and pickup models.

I'm pretty stoked for Australia, and I'm pretty stoked about all of the Land Cruisers I'll see and ride in. I might need an extra couple of camera memory sticks for all of the pics I'll be taking of the trucks.

Thanks!
Brian

There are heaps of 70's cruisers in Oz, but the models you have identified 70,73,74 will be few and far between in general, and even more so in remote regions, you will see plenty of 75, 76,78, troopy's, utes, v8 wagons etc, then everything else in the yota range, and yes you will need a good supply of memory sticks, you will no doubt get to see some uniques rigs, but more so the owners of these rigs are the prize, more remote better they get. Enjoy your trip cobber

Lots of these trucks are coming to North America. Some great importers and a community of 7X owners are working on it - care to join us? :)

I am jealous, envious, etc. for a number of reasons. Have a great time, take a lot of snaps and post them to Mud and a photo-sharing site, if you would. Thanks in advance!

PS You could just adopt a troopy and bring it back with ya.

I would love nothing more than to adopt a pickup and bring it back but my wife says no... :bang:

Thanks for the info guys, and it's informative to know that it'll mostly be mid and long wheelbase rigs rather than shorties. I'll be sure to make an album under my Photobucket account and share it with you guys.

You will probably have to spend a few hours or even a day or 2 getting to some of the best places on the worst roads. You will be glad of a LWB to ride in. I like PBS ,so Ill be looking forward to the film you and your crew produce. Enjoy your trip.

You can ship it to me and you're wife will be none the wiser.

Hello,

Good luck on your trip. Enjoy the 70 Series.

As Charles pointed out, get yourself a nice Troopie and ship it to him...
