Anyone have this combo. Ive searced but no pics. Just getting ready to order my OME and wondering if this will look goofy? I eventually want to go with 35' like TYLER but it will be a while since I just got the 285's. J springs just seem so nice now that Slee has the castor plates. Thanks in advance.

Here are 295/75/16's with J's.

Truthfully I think 35's with only J's are too stuffed once you add more weight to the front and rear. Tyler has nothing on his truck so it was ok.

285/J's pics...

Here's mine- 1993 w/ 285/75/16, J's, 1" mr. gasket spacers, and Slee's plates.

damn, I thought my 285s were plenty big... evidently I better not start thinking about a lift...

yeah, kinda roller skate-ey. I just didn't want to go 35's. It's a daily driver, and I live in Oakland, CA. Gotta be able to dodge the bullets every now and then, and 35's just SUCK your power away...

I mean, I WANT 35's, but I don't want 35's...

Be honest, a stock 80 can't dodge bullets, nor can an 80 with 35s. Get 35s.

Good pics. I am definitely getting some J's now.

Did you guys use the OME castor bushings and if so, how close to stock could you get it?

I see Slee has a new castor kit. Is it made for J's?

The castor kit is made for J's. Thats why i want them now. From what I have seen the installation of the slee kit actually looks easier than the bushing install and you dont have to worry about the stiff bushings cracking the control arms. The slee kit is only a little more than the OME bushings.

Forgot to thanks everyone for the pics. Definately made the decision for me. Darwood your truck looks awesome.

I think the OME bushings were linked to cracking in some axle housings in the land down under. Never heard of them breaking control arms. Not that it really matters at this point. Now go get those springs and plates!! :)

Yeah, I'm not planning on a winch, and I'm gonna build a minimal, ARB style bumper. I used the 1" mr.gasket spacers to keep me in the 4" of lift range.

Sethro what wheels do you have? They look great. I've been wanting some black wheels, but don't know what to get. Sorry to change the subject, but I had to ask. TIA

The plates were not made for J springs. They were made for 4-5" of lift. You might get that with J springs if you do not add any bumpers or winches. Just a small data point :D

 Im gonna go ARB soon too so I guess that will prob not work out then. Guess I either have to go standard OME lift or hold out for your 4" springs.

Can they(the new castor kit) be used with J's?

The plates can be used with J's .. as I have done so with great results . What Christo is stating above is that for the plates to work in the optimal range , you should have 4-5" of lift . This may not actually happen if you begin with only J's , and then start piling on a bunch of weight in the front . You have to understand that the bumper you add will drop the front end .. resulting in less lift overall .

I run a clean , light 80 .. so the plates work for me .
