Hey guys...
Looking at my new(ish) rig and it has a switch for petrol and lpg. I searched and found a bunch of threads about it and decided 'what the hay'- I went out and flipped the switch- it works! I was planning to take out the system (assuming that it didn't work) i suppose I'll keep it for the added coolness factor as well as mother nature factor. :hhmm:

I would get it inspected before using it. Also, the nozzle to fill it I believe doesn't match up with anything here in the USA.

IF you can get everything working right and safely, a nice thing about propane is that your cab won't flood or stall out at extreme angles offroad, so you could run gas onroad and save the propane for in the rocks.

Flipper's most like correct though and you'll need to (at a minimum) upgrade the fill nozzle to US-spec parts. I'm sure gotpropane.com or propaneguy.com would have what you need.

good point(s)... thanks for the input.

You should weld a port off the side of the tub and mount a gas grill on the side. Wheeling and burgers all day brother....

That is cool...
Definitely handy if we have a gas shortage or if it goes up more....Well I should say, when it goes up more. I would do some calculations and see how the mileage vs. dollars per gallon compare.

Definitely have it checked for leaks, propane makes a big boom.

I plan to have it checked out... as far as leaks though- I'm pretty sure it's tight- ~51 days on the boat from Aus (according to the PO) and sat in po's yard for a couple of months. Last night I flipped the switch expecting a boom and voila 1/2 a tank of LPG!!!

I am going to do a mileage calc- just have to change out the thermostat (or put one in) she runs ice cold and quite rich. I'm doing that this weekend- I've searched and got ALOT of info- but any tips you guys feel like giving are most welcome.

Hey jsaltlick- you may be on to something... I love burgers...

My Aussie 45 runs on both gasoline an propane. I had it filled this past summer without having to do any modifications. It likes to start on propane not gasoline (tried replacing the fuel pump but may need a carb rebuild). I don't find mileage any better with the propane. Plus it cost like $60 to get the tank filled and its easier to go to the gas station. I had no problems getting it inspected through Rhode Island. Hope this helps. Good Luck with your new rig.

Thanks.

Have any of you heard of a 'wet leg'? I searched a bit on propane and I remember reading about someone using a 'wet leg' to fill their tank off of their residential tank...

Aside from the obvious- what is a wet leg!?!
