It's getting hot in Texas

I am in the process of connecting my AC after converting my FJ60 to a 6.0 vortec. I have two questions I was hoping the board could help me with.

1. Did fj60's (87) have a safety pressure switch on the AC lines? If so, where?

2. What does the electrical plug look like that connects to the AC compressor clutch? Unfortunately the PO took out the 2F before I bought it. Could someone describe or snap a pick of this connector for me?

Thanks in advance!

Colin

1. I don't think there's a safety pressure switch on the lines anywhere - but I'm not positive - unless that's what the exansion valve does. (this is the system I'm working on next - in TX too - so ask me at the end of the summer, I'll have it done then ;) )

2. I'll be out later this afternoon and I'll snap you a pic of the harness, unless someone beats me to it.

(didn't want to leave you hanging)

There is a pressure switch that will enable or disable the system depending on the pressure in the system. It's primarily there to keep the system from operating when it's low on gas. You'll find it in the vicinity of the evaporator up under the dash.
There is a safety plug on the receiver dryer (if you have the OEM) but that is a one time thing. When it goes you need a recharge.
The clutch connector is simply a male spade connector.

curser-guy, Is the connector a single wire with a female spade socket on the harness side with a blue plastic protector on the passenger side close to the battery tray?

Thanks again, Colin

A/C clutch wire is just a single wire. It's grounded through the engine to complete the circuit. I can't say which side it's on for an FJ60 as I have a BJ60 (mine's on the passenger side).

Thanks for the pics!! I just got back in town from Norway....No AC needed there! didn't spot any cruisers though ??? Now to get my hoses hooked up.

BTW I verified there is a pressure switch so I have to get the hoses all hooked up and partially charge before the power will show on the clutch wire.

Because of the new setup with my engine I guess I need to add service ports on the high and low side. Any comments?

Colin
