I've been trying to track down a slow drip from my t-case ever since I did the clutch job back in the summer. I was kind of pissed, thinking it was the seal that separates the cases of the t-case itself, but last night I washed the t-case down and let it dry, then I went for a long drive and looked for the source...turns out it's not a seal at all, it's the stupid bolts around the output shaft casting...I guess I should have put some sealant on them as I was re-assembling after changing the shaft oil seal....(sigh)....learn from my mistakes I guess, always seal those bolts.
 
Just take them out and put them back one by one...just don't forget to apply sealant this time ;)

Indeed, for a while though I was thinking it was the more expensive case seal. BTW, should I apply the sealant to the threads and also near the head of the bolt or just the threads?...not sure...
 
Yes, there is a gasket. But then oil can still leak by the threads.
The manual says to apply 'Three Bond 1324 or equivalent' on the cleaned threads before final installation.
If only the engineers had kept the treadholes isolated from the inside of the casing then there would not be a problem like this, but they did not :-(
 
There is a gasket behind there that's supposed to keep the oil in place. I'm not sure that putting sealant on the bolts will help.

Ya I put a fresh gasket in place, the oil is definetly seeping out from around the washers and bolt heads...dumb move on my part, easily fixed though.
