Is this RTV on a 91’ transfer case OEM?

Based on the sloppy application I’d say no

Every one of the four I've worked on looks similar. I assumed it was shoddy repair work, but have been told it is factory. It is much less precise of an application than any other FIPG I see on these rigs.

Do these transfer cases usually get rebuilt ? Or start leaking at some point ? Mine has 233,000 miles just curious if it was taken apart.

yea my 2004 Camry had very similar Looking RTV so that’s why I figured it was factory. Thanks

Yes, input seals, output seals, speedo orings/seals, actuator arm seal, transmission output seal and transfer case input seal between the tranny and transfer are all prone seal wear. The transfer cases can be rebuilt with new bearings and seals. They are very robustly constructed. Valley Hybrids and Cruiser Outfitters are two high quality, well reputed shops that are also active here on 'mud.
