I am looking at a 4.2L 1HD-FTE lc100(2006), there are no pictures under the car to see the frame, is it even worth to request them seeing these pictures which show signs of rust on the engine?

I am also looking on anther 4.2 lc100(2003) a bit older. the one above is a 5speed and the other one is unfortunately a 4 speed, but from the pictures it looks much better in the rust department, but the seller writes "Hydraulic suspension replaced with new springs, torsion bars and shock absorbers", is that a reason for concern that the Hydraulic suspension was replaced? and would you even consider a car like that ?
here are the pictures:

both cars look in good cosmetic condition. the newer one with the rust looks better inside, both drove around 200,000km(125,000 mile). price of the older one is also considerably cheaper, 18,000 euro for the newer and 12,800 for the older one with the replaced suspension.

the last picture is of the first car, in mistake I placed it at the bottom of the post

Everything but rust can be fixed. The upper pictures would show a vehicle with to much rust for me personally. Every bolt in the engine is rusted and you can see the frame and suspension are very rusted as well. I would guess the number one reasons to replace AHC is due to rust or poor maintenance…so that would not be an option for me. If you can’t buy from a non-rusty region and drive it home or ship it home, it’s often a long waiting game, where you need the cash money to make the deal immediately when you see the right truck. Here in the US you will often see good trucks sell within a day or two so you have to be diligent.

Thanks, i will wait till I see a better option. no rust and more original.

by the way do you think I should focus on the 5 speed or should I pull on a 4 speed if I see a good example?

I'm sure some folks from rust-prone areas will chime in with their own perspectives but I agree with @baltistyle that the first truck shows a lot of rust. Look at every bolt inside the engine compartment, and the rust barely visible behind the wheel in the other picture. If possible, ask them for detailed pictures of the under-carriage (frame, axles, suspension, body mounts, etc...). If unwilling or unable, I would pass on it.

yes, it's rusted. When you see bits like the hood latch rusted, the rest of the truck is probably full of scale
Yep, that’s a quick and easy way to judge what the rest of the truck might look like when pictures are not provided. If those bolts are rusty, then it’s very likely the rear members are very very rusty. The rust belt people can say what they will, but they would much rather have a rust free truck under every circumstance. Once you buy rust, you never go back…..to rust.

Hi there

As I am located in rusty region. Let me give you a simple advice for J100 answering your question. Rust Y/N

For the J100 you just have to look at the latch of the hood. If this is rusty, forget about the car. Yours definitely has rust.

Owners who really take care, the latch is not rusty.

For 99% of J100 the above rule matches.
