Is this Canadian M101 worth $2700?

Well, it is a very nice lid.:)

It does have a few other features. The Thule set-up cost over $500, based on what I paid for similar rackage that was on my old Rodeo.

The custom fenders are nice. I had a set made for our M101 and that set me back almost $500.

And the extra light guardage is good stuff.

Throw in paint and new tires/wheels.

Sooooo, I don't know. It's $2000 more than what I paid for our pretty stock M101. But it's all together and ready to roll. It would be a steal at $2k. If I needed a trailer and was going to end up making those mods myself, then it's not the quite the stretch it seemed at first.

Mike makes good points. First looked at the ad and puked over the god awful size of the lid. WOW! I guess the rest depends on you. Nice upgrades to the tires, lids (in any shape) aren't cheap, etc.

You've got a nice rolling trailer for $2500 ready to go.

Yeah, I really don't like how it blocks vision to the rear.

On the other hand, if you need the space, that's a whole lot of dry area under roof. The side-opening access so you don't actually need to lift the lid is a nice touch. That tends to keep things dry if you need to be in and out rather than lifting the whole lid.

If the lid removes and reinstall easily, that would be a further bonus, as that makes use of the open trailer available.

A buyer should make sure what the seller is calling a bike rack. Ad says it's not included. I am no expert on Thule rack or any racks for that manner but it's possible the seller plans to remove everything. Best for a seller to remove anything he plans to keep before taking pictures so there is no chance of confusion.

I didn't bother reading the ad, was just commenting on what I saw in the picture.

On the Thule, just the two sled looking things, one on each side, actually hold bikes. But read the ad copy and interpret for yourself what applies to the pic or not.

One other thought I had about the paint. If done right and all the CARC was removed, then that's worth $1000 right there. I had mine sandblasted locally and they seemed indifferent, but I suspect sandblasters are used to living dangerously:p

Then I finished a few repairs, primed and painted, then rewired. My time is worth something and paint, supplies etc, so chose what number you'd put on the value of that.

Edit: as of 11-20-13 its still available. If somebody buys it. I will buy the lid off of you. If you will ship to SC. So figure that in your price.

I didn't see the original post. But I am pretty sure you guys are talking about this. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/117750-m101-for-sale And yes it is worth it. The box isn't for everyone. But is alum and light. And removable. I really wanted it to use for bikes also. I am in negotiation on a m101cdn right now. Stock at $1300. And that is a good deal in the states. Most sell in the $1500+ range for a clean one. I couldn't do all this for $1200. I just bought a real nice m100 for $500. Turned around and sold it for $1100. Because it was too nice to hack up. But I just picked up a m416 clone for $400 with no rust, factory tailgate, and flat upper railing and wider fenders. A conscious free hacker. I just don't like the frame on it. So I am debating between fabing a frame. The difference of $900 will buy a lot of steel, aluminum and axle. Or buying the CDN and modding it similar to this. The m101cdn are the best bang for the buck in military trailers. They have flat upper rails which aid in adding lids and such. They were made in 90s instead of the 50s/60s. And since they are Canadian military. They didn't see much use:doh: Did I say that;)

Yes, that's the same trailer. It's still a nice rig at a reasonable price IMO.
