Is the Matco TRC150 torque wrench worth buying?

I am considering buying the Matco TRC150 torque wrench rated at 10 - 150 ft lb (1/2" drive). The 10-150 range appears to serve most purposes as I am in the middle of a disk brake swap and just installed the OME 2.5" deluxe suspension kit. If anyone out there thinks buying this torque wrench is a bad idea please let me know.

FYI: I am a backyard mechanic just learning how to wrench. If I need anything larger I figure I can turn to our local club.

Another option for me is to buy a torque wrench from Summit Racing as my co-workers just gave me a $150 gift certificate!

Thanks,

Thanks,

How much is the torque wrench from Matco? Is it made in USA? Did you compare price between Matco and Sears? If you have that gift certificate from Summit, I would get this one, don't know if it a USA made: K-Tool International 72126 - K Tool Adjustable Micrometer Torque Wrenches - Overview - SummitRacing.com

Matco wrench is $115. Do not know if it is USA made. Did check Sears too; read other posts and most say go with a Snap-On, Matco, or something or another. As for Summit, I was looking at the one you referenced.

Thanks for the input.

If the Matco is new, $115 is a screaming deal. I've always had used wrenches calibrated. I think I paid about $35.

OK, what about the Husky version, about $80 new with lifetime warranty. That is what I have

Received the Matco TRC150 last week. Picked it up yesterday from the calibrators. The wrench was within specs, no need for calibration. Tried it out on my front axle rebuild. Basically, it works and and feels solid. But then again, I have nothing to compare it too as I never used a torque wrench before.
