Quick question... I live in Columbia, SC and I'm looking for an older 100 series for the :princess: and know I may have to travel a bit to find a good one. I have seen a few available up there, specically in Raliegh, Winston-Salem, Greensboro. Do they salt the roads up there in the winter?
Any help is much appreciated,
John

They use both salt and sand up here. Good news is its probably only two to three times a year.

If you are looking at dealerships check to make sure the vehicles were not imported from somewhere up north. When I was looking at 100's for my wife we saw several that were imported from northern states and had rusty undercarriages.

Ditto,

I would say half that we looked at were from up north as well. Most dealers esp the shady ones will try and conceal it with undercarrage spray or just black spray paint. Pretty easy to tell but make sure you look and or pull some carfax history reports.

They also like to use the pretreat spray/brine. Not sure what it contains but I imagine it's just as bad (or worse) than just plain salt/sand. When that stuff gets on car it's like white paint...

Funny story. After looking at about twenty 100's, my wife and I finally found the one we(she) wanted. It was in Burlington but from New Jersey, so I was skeptical. I was tired of crawling up under cars to look at the undercarriage, so before we finalized the deal I got out my creeper and rolled around under the cruiser. The dealer was a good guy and got a kick out of it. He said he had never had a customer bring in a creeper to check out a vehicle.
