Is Lexus Leather Better?

I find it ironic that two threads above this one right now is a two-page thread on cheap, e-bay seat covers to go over ripped leather...

The Series 100 section is all about irony, we're a diverse bunch to say the least. I think a couple of the trending threads may even be on topics discussed in the past

Personally I wish the US Series 100 had been offered in cloth, I've always been a cloth guy.

I've spent time in both LCs and LXs and I didn't see any difference in the leather. My guess is an original LC buyer is more likely to actually use the vehicle for what it's made for, which includes dragging lots of dirt, snow, mud, rain, sand, etc into the vehicles, including the seats. If they are like me, they don't take it to a dealer to get a detail either :)

Do you really think the original buyer of the 55K truck was really that different from the buyer of the 65K truck?

Maybe the typical Lexus buyer was a little older and had fewer if any children, but here in PA, 99% of LC and LX is a Mall Cruiser

Probably more wool pants in PA. I think that the cream color looks newer longer than the grey. More supple. Just an observation I've made in my many sightings of Series 100s interiors.

My 80 was cloth. It attracts and retains the dog hair like a black hole...

I've always hated cloth because my tshirt sticks to it and if I'm on a long drive my back and tshirt wear on each other and it chafes my lower back.

I came to the USA from Europe 30 years ago, and since then I have lived and worked both sides of the pond so I know the differing psychologies of leather. Simply, here in the USA leather is associated with "luxury", "wealth" and "snobbery" despite what ever you may consider its intrinsic merits. In Europe leather is thought more of as "old fashioned", for gentlemen yes, but old ones - not soccer moms.

In the 21st century there really are better and longer lasting man-made solid, not cloth-like, materials to sit on.

Cant speak for MB Tex or V-Tex seats but BMW leatherette seats hold up and feel & look better than any domestic leather seat I've ever seen. That being said with proper care (think Lexol) high quality leather (whether Toyota, Lex or likely anything German) will last as long as the rest of the car.

Lexus leather is better. The overall interior is better. The Lexus also has a better ride and the adjustable/auto-correcting suspension. If you are planning to service it a Lexus, they also come to your house and give you a car. Used, the prices aren't THAT different, go with the Lexus and buy from a non-snow state.

Actually, yes. My observation is that the typical late 2000's LC buyer was stepping up from a Sequoia or 4Runner, looking for something a little 'tougher' whereas a Lexus buyer was a former MB or RR buyer. Just my observation, your mileage may vary.

We have V-Tex in our VW. It's only a year and a half old now so I don't know what it will be like long term, but for now, it's softer and feels better than just about any leather car seats I've sat in.

Still, I'll take leather over cloth any day. The seats in my current LC are in much better shape than the cloth ones in my FJ60 when it was about the same age and had about the same number of miles.

I can second the FJ comment. 26 years of hard use have taken a toll on my drivers seat. Older puffy cloth 4Runner seats (not the standard SR5 trim which is the same as the FJ60) seem to be indestructible .
