Hi guys,

Lc200 2014 vx.r.
I am testing a few different types of combinations/brands for the lights.
I got this lowbeam led and it says to connect the power directly to the led bulb, to bypass the ballast completely. It works well but I don't feel safe keeping it open like this (pic attached).

What do you guys think? Since the ballast is also acting like an airlock in our trucks, removing it will make the dust/water enter the housing and damage it completely?

Unless you want the insides of your lenses looking like the rest of your engine bay (dust/dirt/mud) they need to be closed.

Any manufacturer selling parts that don’t account for this isn’t giving you a complete product.

Are the stock HIDs not bright enough? Tried replacing those bulbs?

Hmm fair point. The thing forgot to add in the post was if there is anyway to seal it off?
But you are right, I will return this and get a proper light.

The stock ones started flickering so before getting the expensive original one, I thought to try the cheaper one first. And this is way brighter than the stock which will help me in my mountain runs at night.

If it’s just for testing even 2” vinyl tape could make a cover, or I’ve seen people cut up correct diameter plastic plug/caps and find ways to make them seal.
This has been done before, just not much on this board. Might want to try broadening your search to other cars where they swap in HIDs.
