I have asked this question on Tundra Solutions and found I am not the only one with this problem. So Far no one has come up with a solution. Here is the original question:

I have a 2002 SR5 4WD Tundra. So far I really like it. The only problem I have is with the driver seat. I am tall and would be more comfortable if the seat went back a little further. I looked at the bolt position and it does not appear to be an easy fix. Does anyone else have this problem? Have you made any modifications?

toyota use to have extensions for the seat rails ,you could get for there seats way back when . Check with the dealer and see if anythings available.

i havent seen the braket.
so im gussing here:

the 'L' ends of the rail, could be chopped off, and extended. and the 'L' welded back on.

if it has a special groove, or somthing spesific, you could butcher a seat from the junkyard.

not that theres any dead tundras to fill a junkyard, but people do wreck em :D

Howdy! My son had this same problem in his 85 mini truck X-cab. I made a square subframe from 3/4" tube that bolted into the original holes on the floor, and then matched the seat mounting bolts, just 3 inches to the rear. Seat is only 1.5" higher, but will slide way back. Painted it semigloss black and even found square plugs to fit into the tubing at hardware store. Looks like OEM now. John

This sounds like a good option. However, your solution will get me further back but I think the extra 1.5 inches in height would put me in the ceiling. At this point sounds like I need to take it out, tear it up until I find a solution. Someday I will have this problem fixed!! Thanks for your help.

Howdy! I have not looked at how the Tundra seats mount, but I have seen a lot of other setups. Could you just use a piece or two of flat plate, maybe 1/2 inch thick, and do the holes like I did? Drill a set to hit the original mounting holes on the floor, and then drill and tap a set several inches to the rear that you could bolt the seat into. No welding req

Howdy! Could you just use 1/2 inch flat plate? Drill a set of holes to mount the plate to the floor, and the drill and tap another set of holes several inches to the rear to bolt the seat into. No welding required, just simple drill 8 holes and tap 4. Now you've got me curious, so I'm going to have to sneak a peak at a tundra seating system. John

Hey Wadesters,

Have you by any chance fixet this seating issue, im another tall hilux owner. ive had my seats out a few times and took a look, but im not sure if inkpot's soloution will work, its fine in an extra or duel cab but its no good for a single cab! my seat is up against the rear of the cab and my legs only just miss the steering wheel, not to mention the ammont of smacks i cop to the head when offroading. my money pit is an 86 hilux (im in australia) through all my research the best option i have foud is to find a racing style seat with a slimline back and bottom part. something like a sparco or recaro, or cheaper brands, fixed back seats may be another way to go too, theyre smaller outline and are cheaper coz they dont have mechanical components in them. just mock up the seat as far back and as high as possible with cardboard or wood, but allowing enough head room and measure and make up the brackets that way, even just directly bolt it to the floor pan and use adequate strengthening on the underside, like a steel plate, you dont "have to" have the chair adjustable of only you use it! another tip is to rid yourself of the stock head lining over the cab's celing either go without or put a thinner speaker carpet instead, you will gain a little more precious bits of space. the only other option is to cut the back of the cab and extend it making a cutsomised cab, between a single and xtra, but thats a LOT of work.

hope some of this helps, thats all i could find out
