I know there are old threads that discuss part of this, but I couldn't find any recent threads on the subject, so I apologize in advance if I missed something.

I am going on a short holiday next week and driving to Dubai to visit some friends. I spoke to the Ironman dealer there and he has the ironman drawer system for the 76 in stock so I think I'm going to swing by and pick one up (any experience with these drawers?). He also mentioned that he has the lift kit available for my cruiser (2013 LC76 with the 1HZ), and made me a reasonable offer on the kit and installation. Since a lift is on my build list eventually i thought i might take the opportunity to get it done now.

So my questions:

I've only had OME suspensions on my other vehicles and have never tried ironman. Is the ironman kit with upgraded foam cell shocks as good as the OME kit? After upgrading the ironman shocks to foam cell (is that worth the ~$150 premium?) the price of the two kits is fairly close (although the hassle of getting it installed it better for the ironman since I will need to drive about 2 hours out of my way for the ARB/OME kit).

Any other thoughts on either kit?

Thanks for the help!

i hear good things about the iron man kits for the 80 series. I would investigate on some of the aussie forums like Lcool or 4wd action. There has to be someone out there.

quick youtube search

Thanks for the suggestion, I took your advice and looked at some of the Aussie forums here is some of what I found:

Have posted previously about the quality of Ironman suspension. I have it on my 75 series Cruiser and its better then anything else i have ever tried. Has been on for 6 months now, and done the Gibb Road, Cape Leveque road and many other tracks around the Kimberley and its still like the day it was put on. I will be going Ironman again for sure. Paid $1100 for the full kit with a 2 inch lift, whereas OME and Tough Dog wanted around $2000-$2800.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with them, just very satisfied.

i have had ironman shocks fitted to my 96 grand cherokee for about 12 months, foam cells front, nitro gas rear.very happy with their performance in both standard form and with a 2in lift.
the foam cells seem to run cooler than the nitros(foam cells won't fit on the rear of the grand).
i also received prompt and very helpfull replies to several questions that i e-mailed them.
don't let the low price put you off!

I also looked here on Mud in the 80's section and found this thread comparing TJM, OME and Ironman. I also found this thread in the 60s section. So it looks like I should have done google before asking my question rather than just searching in the 70 series forum, sorry for the clutter :)

I recently purchased an HDJ81 with the 6" Ironman lift and ended up replacing the coils with Slee 4" due to poor handling caused by not enough caster correction. With out any added weight / armor on the vehicle the lift was much higher then 6" and sat at least two inches higher in the rear then the front adding to the caster problem. In their defense they list this lift as competition only as well as having the expectation of the vehicle loaded with lots of extra weight. I have no experience with their lifts for the 70 series but the weight of your truck vs expected lift height would be worth questioning them on

I'll I say is stay away from ironman in Dubai the guys is nice but don't have much selection to choose from in weight category and stiffness on the ironman is a killer. I had the foam cell shocks hated the ride now I have ome shocks much better ride

My friend had the same ride as u he got the iron man lift and it was sagging heavily at the back don't know why . The car had no armor on it

Lol you posted too late Jimmy :). I got the ironman kit installed with the foam shocks. So far I like it. I gained 60mm in front and 70mm in rear which I think looks good for my car. The ride is much softer than stock. I am a little worried that when I have a full load of fuel and full camping gear and extra spare it might sag in the rear, but on the trip home with the back packed to the roof and the wife and kids in the car it was not sagging.

Basically it got rid of the bone grinding when I go over bumps, rides more like my 100 now except it is has more roll in the corners.

The Dubai ironman people were really nice and if you haven't talked to them lately you should check again, they had a ton of stuff in stock for the 76. They keep it in stock because of all the UN and military vehicles they prep.

They also worked overtime to install everything on my schedule which was very nice. I needed up getting the suspension, rear drawers with fridge slide, an awning, and an internal roll cage.
