I'm going to buy a Satellite communication device, and I wasn't even aware the iridium GO existed. Does anyone have any experience with it?

I need voice.

And, I've not had good luck with my Garmin on the Rubicon. Awkward to use and an hour to get a text back. And no real indication of what's going on while it's thinking. I've realized I really need to be able to have a conversation with someone if I'm broke and looking for assistance.

I think you fellas are looking at it the wrong way. It's like you're comparing California oranges and Florida oranges, wondering if they taste any different.

There's Iridium and Globalstar. Do you want an Iridium GO, or Globalstar data? Iridium is superior for Alaska and Northern Canada. Globalstar is cheaper, with less sattelites in the sky.

Do you really need to be sending all that data in the field? How about a much simpler Iridium InReach or Globalstar SPOT? Just some simple messages and emergency beacon.
