I've got an 04 LC. It has inputs on the bottom of the drop down entertainment system for video and audio. I'm not sure if these inputs are for in or out. Has anyone ever hooked up an iphone to play through this TV?

Hey, that looks good, glad to see it will take inputs.

Putting the DVD player at the bottom of the rear storage area, behind the 3rd row seat is a lousy location when it's full of gear for roadtrips. You have to unpack the whole truck in order to change DVD's. This would make things much easier.

I have used those inputs on the RES with an iPhone 4 on my '04 and it works fine. I used the Apple brand cable with video and L+R Audio, but I assume the much cheaper version in the Ebay link above will work too? Video shows up on the RES screen and audio comes through the wireless (or wired) headphones. The iPhone settings are easy to find and use for that output.

I wish Toyota had provided a direct, wired connection from the RES inputs to the head unit in the dashboard. That way I could have used the RES as an AUX source to the head unit. But as it is, the only way to get audio from the RES to the main speakers is to use the FM transmitter in the RES and tune the head unit to that "station".

I agree with that. One of my major complaints is the integration (or lack thereof) of the RES. It would be great if you could load a DVD into the changer in the center console and "direct" it to the RES without having to load the headrests with the DVD while being able to control the RES from the touchscreen. My kids aren't old enough to control the RES themselves so it is problematic to change movies while driving. I hope to gain a little more control (play, stop, pause) using my Iphone as the input.

Yes, that is a pain, at least the headrest in the LX is far better than the rear cargo area behind the 3rd row seat in the LC. Especially when it's full of luggage (which is when you need the movies for road trips). I can't think of a worse location.

Trying to guess what your doing with the remote on a screen you can't see is also a real pain.

Anyway, hooking up the iphone via cables will help tremendously.
