I'm about to start this project pre-HIH9 and have a couple questions:
1.) Did you use any backing plates for the underside to protect against the track pulling out or flexing? Is that even necessary?
2.) Have you been happy with the overall security of the setup (no vibrations, etc.)? What about that RAM tab-tite mount for the tablet? I use the standard RAM X-Grip, but want something more like the tab-tite.
3.) Did you use the "medium" length arms with double-ball attachments?
My setup will look identical to yours with my iPad mini (loaded with GAIA) in the middle, my iPhone8+ on the driver side and my Midland 75-822 on the right with an additional split and holder for my Baofeng UV5R.
1. I did not use a backing plate and don’t believe it’s necessary. I used T nuts with the little claws that bite into the plastic on the bottom so I could take it off without taking the radio back out.
2. Security is great. No complaints. I ditched the xgrip and moved to tab-tite.
3. I used short and medium for more adjustment.
