I'm about 4 miles north of where the Cedar joins the Iowa. Less than a mile from the Cedar. Columbus Junction is going to be bad.....route 92 is closed and 61 is closed at Wapello. Both have about 5 feet left before the crest on about Tuesday, and both are almost at all time record highs now.
I'm fine though. The Cedar lies about 70 feet lower than my house. I might have a waterfront property soon (kidding), but I'll still be dry.
Here are a few pictures from a few days ago at Grey's lake in near down town Des Moines. You can see the lamp posts in some of the
pictures are surrounded by water. You can also see that parts of
the bridge are under water too.
I think the worst is over, still a lot of waiting for the rivers to drop again. I've been real busy with work, as we have a data center that we've brought a bunch of businesses into in the last 5 days (I think I got 8 hours of sleep sometime last week). Glad to hear people are in doing well! Go figure, 2-100 year floods in 15 years...
