Hey,
After 6 long years I bought myself another cruiser. Back when I was 16 I bought my 1976 fj40 and brought her back to life (photos at the end). Loads of welding, parts, and some paint. But then I sold it, and had to move on from the 40 world, but always had my eye out for my next cruiser. Two Weeks ago I bought me... and the wife a 1993 FZJ80 and it has AC big plus over my old 40.
This weekend I had a chance to pull the engine to get rid of some nasty oil leaks and check out what I got myself into. Everything looks pretty good, except for one area. The Neutral safety switch plugs have had a bit of a ruff life from the po. It had been completely broken, 3 spliced wires and completely covered in rtv, clearly to waterproof it. I am looking for a pin out for the plug or a reason this may have been the route someone took with wiring... Also I will be soldering in a different plug.
Transmission end. Black wire has been run to "HEAD" relay Red/green wire, It does not have a matching wire on the engine side of the harness which doesn't seem right.
"Head" relay Red/Green wire going to black on transmission side.
Finally the Engine side of the plug
Some plug damage
The old FJ40
