Hello fellas (and Gals ),

I normally frequent the trouble shooting/tech area of the 80 section, but never locally. I don't have anything particular exciting on my 80 LC, itz stock. Others have done great stuff/upgrades, and they serve to my indecisiveness when upgrades are available for me.

Anyways, about three years ago I took my family to Hurricane Ridge in the Olympics. If you haven't visited the park, it is worth the trip. We were on our way down from the visitor center parking lot and pulled into a vista point;

we saw this:

more angles along with a stock FZJ80 in the background:

Info on this LC is that they were on a loooooooong road trip. If memory serves me, they drove from Europe, took a float into the East Coast of Canada and drove across North America to the Olympic Peninsula. From here (at the time) they were heading to the Baja, all the way to South America where they were going to set back on a float back to Africa (unsure of the country) to road trip it back home. Seriouly, it was an interesting conversation and a journey to remember. I didn't want to ask the guy about the details again. He looked tired and I thought he just was trying to enjoy the sights of the area. So there you have it; the rig is cool IMO.

Thanks for reading,

/JJ

Thats a sweet post 1999 7x series! Interesting the gelandewagen in the name of there fab place. I have only heard of the Glandewagen mercedes (which I think is sicker then a d90 or d110) wonder if that means something in German.

Gosh I wish we could get "the good stuff" here state side. Really is a bummer, I only know of Mikes 7x, a HJ6x in Bonney lake a HZJ or HDJ80 in port townsend and My BJ60. I know those guys were travelers but it would be interested to see how many imports we have here in Wa.

BTW I think the 7x is the best land cruiser Toyota ever built. Just for the fact that there are endless verities yes some may have down falls but you can get trucks, troop carriers, short wheelbase, mid wheel base, long wheel base, light duty, heavy duty, high roofs, leaf suspension, coil suspension, 6 turbo diesel engine, 4 or 5 NA diesel engine, two door, 4 door, soft top, hard top, I mean the possibilities are endless! and we got NONE of them!!!!!!
And they are still being made...

Ok my rant is over

Researching the MCS-150 form will shed light on importing; but that's for another thread ;).

Yea, knowing who has some diesel love would be nice, but how many are here (Mud) and willing to share? I read your (seems like ongoing?) 60 build; that rig is serious, no doubt!

No worries man,
Rants and/or our thoughts is pure conversation; it's welcomed! :).

Your points are valid and very well are probably in the hearts of Stateside followers of the LC. I would like to some day get into a diesel, but I would like to tickle the I6 gasser turb'd! :hhmm: That's me though.

There's a guy that the :princess: works with that's rolling what I believe is an HJ60 (it has the "G" on the side of it) down in Aberdeen.

She said he bought it at an estate sale for some insanely low amount of money (think 3k???) and wouldn't even listen to offers when I was looking for my diesel.

Tor (Torfab) has a few. I know his new 80 has a 1HDT in it, and he's got a 70 up there also.

If you believe it, there's actually another Troopie in this state... purchased in Australia, driven through Africa, etc. It's a '98 but is only here temporarily.

Mike,

That's cheap if he picked it up at that price. I'll need to check out Torfab when I'm up there; 70 LC's is a sight to behold!

This 7X Series was a temp. permit vehicle too. I knew of the other models when I saw this, but I really enjoy them in person when spotted. If my wife is there, she will have a smile has I ramble on what they are and why we can't get them, yadda yadda yadda! Then there are those golden days for me when I spot rare vehicles and ramble on, she'll just look and wait for me to be done. Then she'll proceed to continue on our previous conversation as though I returned back to reality. :D Oh well!

Haha, yeah... the :princess: will actually comment about how proud she is of me for not saying something if we drive by a Cruiser and I keep my mouth shut :o

I think the best was the other night when we were on the couch and she had fallen asleep... until I woke her up to show her the FJ62 in some commercial.

She wasn't as enthusiastic as I was...

The AT&T commercial! Nothing wrong with a little reaffirmation from time to time. :D

no she actually really likes land cruisers, but lately she has been hounding me to "something newer" but she also won't budge on "I want my TURBO DIESEL babe!"... so that kind of limits things at least until 2005-2006
Or I can just finish up my "ongoing project" already and just drop a diesel in a 80 for her...

Its next on the list for me, It got bumped up (to many trips NA over our passes) I just need to finish my exterior rust repair, rebuild my knuckles and then I will start collecting parts.
Whats your name JDubble? Looking forward to finally meeting some more people.

Kyle,

It's JJ. I hear ya on parts. I'm getting my "new" PM that have arrived all sorted and collecting the parts for major (front and rear) axle/knuckle/brake service. The LC as of now is a stock family station wagon balla! I'm looking forward as well to actually getting some use of the LC (adventure style), and meeting some community members

Let do it, Lets turbo your I6 gasser! for sure not many of those!

Yes agreed! I have to say, my turbo idea is far from a start; it's something I would consider though.

haha the :princess: always gets me back from my ramblings about this or that LC when she see's a G-Wagon (mentioned previously) that she swears she is going to have one day. Psh I say the day you win the lotto babe.

Here is a shot I took while in Leavenworth 2009:

Sorry man, not trying to fuel the fire ;)

Man, the good thing is I love those things too! So at least if she does end up with one some day I'll be fine with it haha.
we have a few that we see around Tacoma, a nice black one and another classic silver.
