Okay fianlly signed up on mud. My name is Al and I live in Sidney BC. I have an HJ60 that I'm slowly going to mod. I've been on 1 run already and plan to do a lot more. Met a lot of you at the December meeting. Great to see such a good turn out. Right now I'm looking for a turbo charger. I'v got a line on one from a 80's mercedes turbo diesel. Pricey at 300 bucks. Someone at the meeting said there were some old dodge Lazer turbo available in th Victoria area for about 100 bucks. Guess I'll just start calling around. See yah later and Merry Christmas.

hey Al, glad to see you've joined 'Mud. Lots of great info here. What model mercedes is your turbo off of? What is the displacement of the mercedes engine? I'm planning on turboing my BJ60, and need a turbo too. I was thinking of getting one of a Merkur x4rti (2.3L). I'd love to see your rig, post up some pics!

Its off a 3.0l 1980 something Mercedes 300TD. the engines were inline 6. I still have to find out what the boost presurre is. I would like to keep it under 10 psi maybe 6 to 7 is best to keep the heat down. The ones off a older dodge Daytona or turbo Labaron is a garret turbo I believe and would problably be easier to get parts for for rebuilding. I'm not familiar with the turbos of the Merkur. There are not that many around that I'm aware of. You have source? Your 3B is better able to handle higher boost presures and heat. We'll have to get together and compare notes. Drop me a PM we may be able to struggle though it together. See yah.

welcome to mud! like crusty said...there will be more info that you could ever need ounce you use the search...

We should start a thread of the oldest bumps on Mud. This one is right up there, since DieselCruiserman
bumped it with a beer, maybe he had a couple of  too many when he bumped it?! LOL!!

Gotta start keeping track…
