Good Evening Gentlemen,
It's been several years since I've done much with the Land Cruiser community. My job, wife, and kids seem to get in the way of everything. I was a member of TLCA back in '97 shortly after I purchased my 83 FJ60. It is largly stock with the exception of an Ironman suspension. I have just completed a carb rebuild and have been going through the adjustment section in the FSM. Everything checked out fine until I got to the Unloader (USA) section (p. 6-53). Where it says:
1. Fully open the primary throttle valve and check the choke valve angle. Giving a spec of "Choke vavle angle from horizontal plane: 50 degrees."
2. Adjust by bending the primary throttle arm indicated in the figure. And shows an adjustment being made on the arm of the throttle body assembly.
The problem is when I open the primay throttle valve, the choke valve doesn't move at all, and I can see how bending the throttle arm could possibly actual the choke valve. I didn't even know the choke valve was supposed to open when the primary throttle valve is opened.
I took plenty of digital pictures before I started and everything appears to be reassembled correctly. And I have carefully reviewed the carb images on the Specter web site. Am I misreading something? Is opening the primary throttle valve supposed to close the the choke valve? Did I miss something in the assembly? I would post pics but I haven't been successful in my attempts so far; all my pics are too big. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. And I'll be glad to post if see anyone with a problem that I've dealt with lately. It's perfect cruisin weather here in Tucson.
Cheers
