hey guys ,

offroad

cruiser with kdss vs ford f150 raptor

rocky trails << i think cruiser ? ?

driving high speed through sand < < raptor ( but ) it doesnt matter how good you do it the first time , it matters how good you do it the 10th time ( reliability )

what do u think ?

i think a lc can kick the raptors ass with some good shocks and tyres....both high speed offroading ~( one of the main development goals of the lc200 ) and trails ( not cherokee style ) but trails which LCs and raptors can fit in.

What do you think?

Until the raptor wins any Paris Dakars in Production Class, I will go with the LC everytime.

x1 million.

These are two very different trucks, two very different companies, two very different markets and marketing schemes, as well as two very different audiences for these vehicles.

Complete apples to oranges comparison here.

KDSS was banned in Dakar and WRC some year ago... it's too good. I'm trying to purchase a KDSS system for my Tundra.

As for the 200... slap some Tundra A Arms and Fox 2.5 Position Sensitive Shocks on there (Did I mention those are under development?), some fiberglass fenders to clear the front wheels... Hmmmm.

If I was going to build a NEW truck at this point, it'd be a raptor. As snotts sez, you gotta test drive both before you can comment. oh my god i cant believe i just...ok well it's true. Drive a raptor out the box compared to lots of mods on a cruiser and tell me what you think.

Raptor comes stock with
35" BFG AT's,
locker,
400hp/400ft-lbs,
11" front travel,
13" rr travel,
factory valved triple-bypass FOX shocks

You think a 200 is going to keep up with this?
They are totally different vehicles.

So true.
One is a legend and one is a FORD.

No really, they are totally different.

I wish someone would enter a Raptor in the Paris Dakar in the production class and see what happens.

the Paris Dakar doesnt test the trucks abilities as much as the Baja 1000, non-stop race. Both the 200 and Raptor have won*.

Private drivers already raced Dakar 2010 in the Raptor. They made it to stage 7. Pretty impressive without factory support.

The Raptor got 3rd in Class 8 @ Baja 1000 even though it was built for Stock Full Class.

I'm sure if Ford saw marketing value in campaigning Dakar, it would do just fine.

The Raptor has already racked up some nice racing cred and it's only been out for a year or so.

well, the raptor got third, ok that's close enough. I know my truck wouldnt complete baja in third place.

The Raptor can take a pounding.....as Ford proved in their testing......will take that kind of pounding for 250K+ miles.....we will probably never know. I doubt it would last for 10 years of use in the Outback the way a 80, 100, or 200 will.

All that said, it doesnt matter what kind of shocks you put on a 200, the suspension will NEVER rival a Raptors, theres no replacement for displacement......or in this case wheel travel.

I would like to see a Tundra version of the Raptor, but the current chassis wont cut it:frown:

In order to get the extra width over the 200, Toyota gave the Tundra longer A arms. A bolt in coil over will give the Tundra almost 12" of front wheel travel. Slap those arms on a 200 and guess what you have? Displacement anyone? :D

That may be the case, but thats only the front......you still have to address the rear. Plus I dont want a Raptor version of the 200, I want a Raptor version of the Tundra, which wont happen cause of the chassis.

The raptor, first year everything was bolted on. Then after testing on baja and hearing reports from dealerships they went and reinforced more stuff and welded everything.

The only limitation in the Tundra chassis is the floppy frame, which can be dealt with, but being a Toyota, we shouldn't have to. The remainder of the truck is far more HD than the Raptor.

I agree with you that the rest of the truck is way more HD, but the floppy end is a rather large problem. Maybe the 3rd gen tundra will finally get a fully boxed frame......even 3/4 and 1 ton trucks are starting to go that way so its only a matter of time.

Loud,
For once the American manufacturers are testing things properly and then improving them, hopefully they'll keep it up

You gonna build a new truck? Forget the Raptor...look at Power Wagon.

You can't really compare the Raptor to a Power Wagon.....they are built with two totally different market sectors in mind.
