Today (very heavy rain) after shutting down and removing the key I hear a continuous tone coming from behind the dash. Put the key back in and turn - tone disappears. I didn't have time to play with it, pulled the key, went into work, came out 4 hrs later and it is still going. It starts right up and tone stops. However ABS light comes on (unknown yet if this is coincidence or not). Drive home, shut down, remove key - no tone.

The TSB for this only mentions a continuous tone when the vehicle has been started or turned to the run position - not when off.

Also, I have never heard the combination meter buzzer (headlights, keys, seat belts) in my 2001 and had assumed the previous owner had disconnected it. Is there another behind-the-dash alarm? I have the service manuals and wiring diagrams but have not found anything yet.

Thanks for any input on this . . . .

My '94 FJ80 is doing this today. It is extreeeeeemly cold here, (-4F). Started OK but then continuous tone started. Clock face is blank with a a few dots illuminated. Located and removed the clock fuse. Clock went off, tone remains. Pushed all buttons on clock, no joy. Tone remains with engine on or off, keys on or off, keys out of the ignition, headlights on or off etc. Tone seems to be separate from lights left on tone. I finally had to come in to work so parked it facing out assuming my battery'll be dead by the time I go home. Left the clock fuse out on the off chance it has a hold-up cap. Also tried removing each fuse in the fuse block one at a time. Tone never stopped. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :bang:
