Interesting new Australia LC version

I heard about this the other day. Apparently it's demand from the big mining companies that has spurred Toyota to provide this. Would nice to have it on these shores for us enthusiasts but it seems highly unlikely Toyota would agree.

I would probably sell my 100 for this. Me like!

I mean what the heck, why can't we get one like that? It reads like it is the answer!

In Australia you can go to car rental places like Hertz, Budget and get a "Mining vehicle" rental. It's usually a 100, 70 or Prado fully built up rig with Snorkel, ARB bumper, roof rack, Engel Fridge, Sat phone, etc, etc. It's very cool.

There are also other rental places that rent high top or pop top troopies for full off road camping trips.
Australia 4WD Hire - Britz 4WD and Campervan Rentals - Challenger 2 Berth 4WD

Anyway, my point is that they do it right down there! However I'm surprised this new 200 doesn't come with a TJM front bumper.

Funny - My 100 has a steel key and steel wheels. I guess that makes it extra tough. ;<)

It still doesn't have manual hubs, gearbox or a solid front diff.

I venture to say it is one of common misconceptions that a truck isn't tough enough without those.

Mining companies don't run obsenly huge tyres and don't raise trucks to cause nuisance to airplanes.

It is proven fact that:
- IFS is just as tough and often able to slide its way through where solid axle gets stuck;
- auto transmission eats manual for breakfast everywhere except steep descents, and even that is fixable with the manually lockable torque converter (not that mining companies will need that anyway)
- down and around the mine you need constant 4x4
- autohub are non serviceable and sealed - which is better - noone mucks them and no grit and sh*t makes theirway inside...

These are tough with great power- and drivetrain, no gimmicks tough interior and bash plates underbelly...

One would hope a bullbar would be standard too though, and the spare is up on the door (like on *cough*nissan*cough*)

I have seen plenty more destroyed ifs hiluxs front bits than solid front diff hiluxs.
Yes there are strong aftermarket ifs bits but as far as stock ifs gos I'm not a fan.
Australia got the 76 series with manual, vinel, hubs, solid front diff. to replace the 105 series as the 200 was to princess and didn't offer a STD 205 series version for the mining company's besides the top of the range 200s the mining managers would drive.

You can have your factory rear spare tyre holder just have to toto the middle east to get it ;)

Hilux is the 120 platform. There is no comparison - Toyota notes that the 120/150 platform is a light duty where as the 100 and now 200 are HD.

I don't know that Toyota would call the 120/150 light duty in the sense that it can not withstand all the abuses that the 100 and 200 vehicles can. The 120/150's are amazingly reliable and sturdy vehicles. They could be considered light duty perhaps because of their smaller size and slightly smaller payload capacity, but that's about it.

Hilux in Australia

I disagree. Toyota rates them as light duty and the cruiser as Heavy Duty. Granted - light duty from Toyota is more robust than any POS coming out of our country.

A 120 cannot withstand the abuse that a 100/200 can take. Like I said, one just needs to look under both to understand.

It's on the net somewhere and has been mentioned numerous times on this site.

Then please explain the following:

1. Why can a 1st Gen Tundra 4x4 can carry and tow more than a 100 series Land Cruiser?

2. Why can a GX470 haul and tow the same as an LX470?

The Tundra/GX must be HD as well....right?

Pagemaster? You bring up the same retarded arguments. Take your Prius, shove it and GTFO.

I am not Pagemaster thank you very much.

I just want to know what proof you have that the 100 or 200 is actually an HD? When clearly it is called a light duty.

Please prove how it is an HD? Please...

Despite the previous false accusations of Pagemaster clones, I have to agree that Hilux sounds like Pagemaster.
