You need to contact a broker. I have always used Livingston International

I don't know if you are coming to the US to live, visit, on a visa, etc but the laws differ based on your status. You may be allowed to bring one vehicle with you without paying customes fees. Livingston knows all the laws, as it is their business. Their services are not that expensive for all the red tape they cover for you. They do not do any shipping--you have to arrange all of those details.

If you are just importing it, it will need to be at least 25 years old from the DATE OF MANUFACTURE to be importable. That would be date of manufacture before January 1988

Is your softtop OE?

Shes mad, thank you so much for your help. I will contact them soon to work out on my truck. I don't know the manufactured date exacly but i will find out, what I'm sure of is tha it's a 1987. That will give me 26 year, will I still be able to imported to the states?

The date of manufacture will be on the vehicle identification tag, month and year. Anything before Jan 1988 will be exempt from DOT specs, and importable

Bring me a soft top with the frame for my bj74!

Original Equipment .....:)

Oooooohhh ok! Yes my Green Machine is OE, completely original by manufacture! The softop is the one tha came whit the truck from japan! Thank for the OE clarification!

As long as it is over 25 it should be easy. I recently imported a car from Canada and I would say the biggest thing will to be to check with the DMV and what they need from the seller in order to register and title it in the states. The requirements and paperwork differ from province to province and there may be different paperwork required.

The actual import process was easy, I had a shipping company who specializes in corss border shipping and they had some import guys on call that did all the paperwork, all I had to do was pay the appropriate fees and have all the customs paperwork filled out and it was easy. I actually had more of a red-ass getting the pile of parts that came with the truck through customs via freight.
