Have opportunity to purchase a rear spoiler for my 2006. Realize I may be in the minority here, but I'd like to add one. My 06 has the smaller black air deflector and it has some battle scars from the PO.

Anyone know if the larger rear spoiler uses the same mounting location as the smaller black air deflector? I've read in other posts that holes had to be drilled for installing the air deflector on vehicles not equipped from the factory with either the air deflector or the rear spoiler, but wasn't sure if this was necessary to switch from one style to the other.

(note...if holes have to be drilled, I'll likely abandon the idea of doing this.).

Thanks for any input.

Interested in this also as I want to add one from a 2006

I took my whale tail off of my 2006. There was one rather large hole to run the wiring for the built in brake light. Most of the holes were accessible from the back side. I can try and take a picture of them in the morning. I would be interested in trading for the smaller style deflector. Mine is black.

Haven't heard back from the person I'm supposed to buy mine from. Id be interested in trading if he decides not to sell. The smaller deflector I have has a few scratches, of which I've covered some with a sticker.

If the tail gate brake light will be covered by the whale tail properly then you probably don't have to worry about it.

Does the tail gate with the larger spoiler also have the brake light in the tail gate or just the one integrated into the spoiler? I'm not seeing a large hole for a wire to come through in my tail gate; the brake light is integrated into the upper tail gate.
Just the one integrated into the spoiler. There's a body-colored plastic blank where the light assembly would otherwise be.

The "whale tail" spoiler has 4 bolts on my 2001. Two on the outer sides, which pass through large cavities near the corners of the hatch, and two which are located near the top-center tail light. I think the outer ones are 10mm bolts.
