I ordered the SOR 2 piece header for the 40, and am about to install it. I did a 6-1 MAF header on the 60, so I've done this job before.

However, I remember some conversation regarding the gasket. SOR ships a gasket with the header, but it doesn't look to be a stock Toyota gasket. I recall when I did the header on the 60, everyone insisted I used a toyota gasket? I dunno...if anyone has any word before I tackle this job...bring em'

I also remember adding a heat-riser on the 60, which I may do with the 40 as well...

So after stuffing my face on Thursday - with stuffing, and pending a reasonable level of consciousness, I'm gonna tackle the job, and get it over to the custom exhaust shop on Friday.

Happy T-day yall'

OK, I'm trying to get that LAST bolt out, YA KNOW, the one WAY in the back by cylinder 6.

I can't remember what I used to get in there, but no tools I own seems to fit.

Any ideas???? How about one of those bent open end wrenches?

Thanks

I've managed to weasel a socket of some sort in there on the couple that I have done. Maybe loosen the bolts on the motor mounts on that side and lean the motor over will help you? From memory I doubt a bent wrench will help. Maybe cut down a socket and weld a bar to it to get things moving...

Well, I managed to hack at the bolt for hours, using every open-end and socket combo I could think of. In the process, I managed to strip the bolt, and suddenly had visions of a motor 'pull' in my near future. Luckily, I managed to fit one of the craftsman 'stripped bolt' extractors back there and got it out.

now on to the header install...I've called it quits for the night, but so far I'm unimpressed with overall finish quality of the SOR two piece header. The finish quality is close, but not there. Tomorrow I'll need to do some grinding in order to get the header and intake manifold to fit together.

Another interesting note: because of my shackle reversal, the header is actually hitting the upper shackle pin, so tomorrow I will reverse the pin, so the nut is on the outside, and the grease fitting is on the inside (to allow more room)

FUN STUFF!!!
