Hey Gang-

I purchased a 2001 LC that didn't come with the 3rd row of seats. I have a friend locally who has a set of the seats that he never uses, and am going to buy them from him.

My question - is there anything that I need to do or get from him to install these seats? Will the rear deck have the bolt bungs, etc that are needed to bolt these in? I'm anticipating needing to cut the carpet and install the surrounds and bracketry. Seat belts?

Anything else I need to know?

Does it have seat belts for the 3rd row? I’m sure it’ll have the 3rd row connections in the bed, Toyota wouldn’t build 2 cargo area, that cost more money and time.

He does have the seatbelts. I’m thinking you’re right on the cargo area. I need to pull up the carpet to be sure.

So here is the back of my truck, with and without the carpet. It does not seem to have threads for the mounting of these seats. Blank where those should be. Also a view of the whole back of the truck - no seatbelt locations either. Is this going to be a ton of work to install them? I can't be the only one who has done this...

I think the guy I'm getting the seats from will be ok with trading plastics if that's what is needed.

Plastics may slightly different, mine is 04 and it's different from yours. You don't have hoocks/connectors where seats locking in. You may try swapping those too but may need some metal/body work on both trucks (not sure)

And how it would be in 3rd row during summer without rear AC?

Looks like you have to cut and weld in the receptacles for the latch from your buddies truck?

I thought all US spec 100s came with the third row seating. This is completely foreign to me. You're going to have to do a LOT of work to retrofit. From what I can tell on my '99, the floor lugs/catches/latch plates are welded in and there are 4 per side. Also, all your interior wall panels are missing the features for accommodating the the 3-point seat belts on either side. As much work as this will be, it might be a better idea to find a 3rd row seat out of a minivan where the seat belts are integrated into the seats. Your signature says Albuquerque. I live on the west side if you'd like to see how my '99 is setup, which has the third row seats.

Marc - I didn't register your idea about the minivan seat to bolt in, but that's a good idea. It would be nice to bolt in occasionally but I'd mostly leave it out. Any thoughts on where to start with that?

Or I could weld/bolt bungs or secure attachment points through the floorboard and retrofit toyota lap belts.

Upull and Pay. Dig around the minivans there and see what you can find. A lot of minivans 10+ years or older still had removable third rows before Honda showed everyone that you can hide them in a well in the floor.

I'm jealous. I'd trade those side cubbies and the plastic with no holes for the rear A/C and left-over holes from removing my seats any day.

Lotsa work to retrofit. You need the brackets and reinforcements for the floor, and the reinforcement for the floor AND to tD-pillar to support the seat belts.

Are you sure this vehicle wasn't an import of some sort? It's definitely unique to see this. I don't know if I ever have. Maybe its why you are not getting many responses?

Best of luck anyways, many of us are very jealous of your lack of a third row! I know I am.

Looks like you need to stop putting money into this one and sell it for a premium to all these folks that don't need/want the third row. Then you could buy one of the much more common versions with the 3rd row seat already installed.
