I installed this unit from Crutchfield. It was 109.99$ delivered which included the wiring harness, instructions, and tray below the unit. I am super pleased and I believe it sounds better than the stock unit. This one also has an 1/8 inch jack for an ipod. Use code 00020off for an extra $20 off.

How easy was the install with Crutchfields instructions?

Sorry to hijack, but does anyone know why someone would butcher the stock harness when they installed new speaker and headunit?

I'm beginning to hate my PO more than anything in the universe!!

It looks good, tell me how you like the Sony, been looking for something to install in the sister's car, and Sony has some pretty sweet deals.

Its an older model, but for a wheelin rig if anyone is looking try to find a CDX-MP70 in good shape. It has a tray that comes out like your computer, and it holds the disk firm so you will NEVER and I really do mean NEVER skip that bad boy. Its like a tape player. Better actually, we got a tape player to skip once.

Looks good, nice install.

FWIW, I would bet your PO butchered it to see what gauge wiring he had, then decided it wasnt adaquate. You probably have some piss poor routed extra wires running around eh? I would get some EL CHEAPO wire raps and run new wires yourself. Its not hard, but it is time consuming to do a good job. Size isnt everything, do a little research and find out what rating wire you want, and get the smallest diameter possible(hard to get through some grommets).

The GT200 is on its way out (I couldn't find one around me). The GT300 (Looks pretty much the same, but does MP3) is readily available for only 20-30 bucks more. However something to consider if your stock unit isn't totally shot (everything but the cd player worked on mine):

I just installed a 12 disk MP3 changer that in-line modulates from Best Buy (it's a JVC) for about the same price as a unit, harness, and install kit. Now I get to keep that authentic Cruiser look and have my music.

And if you're thinking you hate multi-disk changers cause they're too hard to change on the road because of placement, it fits perfectly into the deep section of the center console. Well hid and easily accessible.

I'm right there with you bud. My PO frickin' ripped the aftermarket unit out and just set the stock one back in. The bracketry to hold the stock head unit is toast. I think i'll have to take my rig to a pro to get a good stereo mounted correctly.
