2002 toyota 4runner has the 4wd button on side of tcase shifter. Replaced front and rear diffs and now when you push the 4wd button it shifts the tcase into neutral and can't move. The only thing I can think of is the wiring harness connector on the driverside near the motor mount was a pain to disconnect and maybe damaged one of the wires? I can't find a wiring schematic for the 4wd system to even begin to look at why it shifts into neutral. Any ideas or links to a diagram?

The 4wd acc. must not be working is all I can think of. And it has been on my mind all day. The way I see it is the shift is going only half the way and stoping for some reason.

I was thinking that the front diff actuator was not engaging, maybe the collar not engaging, somehow installed it wrong? Had to pull the housing extension on the passenger side to swap over parts from the old diff.

It could be a safe mode so that you don't damage anything if something is wrong.

I'd double check the wiring and ensure the front is doing it's job.

Think i figured it out. There is a stub shaft that goes on the pass side and is what the actuator connects to to engage the front axle. I don't think I transfered that part to the new diff. So when you hit the 4wd button all the power goes out the right side of the front diff. When you engage the center diff lock the transfercase becomes like a normal tcase 50/50 power to the front and rear axles and moves the vehicle but no 4wd.
