Install of Vaistech SL3i

Just purchased the SL3i from Vaistech, anyone able to fill me in on how to get to the back of the factory radio? Any other tips/advice is welcome.

The wood grain trim around the radio just pops off. Carefully pry on the edge straight out and once the first clip pops loose, pull the rest free. Four Phillips screws hold the radio in. You'll have a few plugs to undo also, but it's a two minute job to remove the radio.

My vehicle is a 2005 Land Cruiser with navigation and JBL audio system. I guess I need access to the back of the radio part of the system to plug in the new equipment. Not sure how to get to the back of that.

For the 03+ with Nav, you need to remove the two trim pieces sitting to each side of the radio. Pry where the below pic indicates. The pieces are held in with metal clips. Use a plastic or other non-marring pry tool to pop them forwards out of the dash and then disconnect the wiring harness from the back of each. That will reveal the four bolts holding the Nav/Radio/HVAC assembly in.

It only takes a few minutes once you've done it once.
