Hey guys - having a strange issue. Have been having it for a while, but chalked it up to a dead/faulty battery over the winter.

Used to happen once every few drives. Now it is happening several times PER short drive!

Essentially, my infotainment (i hate that word) screen cuts out for about 1 second at random while I am driving. The music stops and the screen restarts. I am having a hard time telling if the HVAC all stops too... it's so brief, and I'm paying attention to the road, so I can't really notice - but I do think it is cutting out at the same time.

All other driving controls and lights (dash, etc) remain on and unbothered.

Feels like maybe a loose connection somewhere? Not sure. Anyone experience this before? Know where the fuses and cables are that I might "jiggle" to see if that helps? (I'm in IT and you'd be surprised how often it's as simple as that).

Thanks as always!

It sounds like it could be the same issue that swild had when installing his Beatsonic.
Go to post #9 on his thread AND look at the Beatsonic Wireless Carplay install video:
You may have a plug that came loose or a short in one of the wires in that plug.

Good luck!

I would say start with this for sure. Without pulling the screen itself, all the wiring / plugs for the infotainment center are under the center console where the shifter is. Pull the center console at the shifter and unplug / reply fall those connections. It’s 3 attached to the bottom side of the panel where the shifter goes through and 2 or 3 more where swild shows in his thread. If that doesn’t fix it, pull the whole thing and do the same with the connections in the rear of the screen. Use GX Bob’s YouTube for removal / reinstall of everything. I think someone linked it in swild’s thread. Good luck.

Unfortunately, you might be looking at failing nav unit... 10-13 models do have an old school PATA platter hard drive as well

Ohhh, that's just great Acrad!!!! Here we are trying to help this guy out, give a little encouragement that he may actually be able to fix it and you have to beat him down saying the whole freak'n thing is fried!!!
(just mess'n with ya :D)

I’d start by pulling the head unit out and reseating all the connectors. Actually pretty easy and several videos on YouTube as well. IIRC… even GXBOB has a video as well. Run diagnostics as well

thank you guys! sorry have had a hectic weekend and did not have time to come back to the thread - really appreciate the help.

i'll pull stuff apart and make sure all the connections are good. hope the whole headunit/system didn't go bad. i've actually driven the car a few times in the last few days with no issues........... really bizarre.

i will update the thread once i got it figured out!

also, holy s*** do i hate the clublexus format. so hard to follow those threads for some reason

You definitely need to turn these off along with an adblock

Any resolution? I'm having similar issues in my 2016.
I know this is a 2 year old thread, but if you've added a lot of electrical mods, and used a fuse-tap, check that as well. I accidentally (well, more naively) tapped into the infotainment fuse. I would routinely kick it loose before getting a bigger fuse cover off of Etsy.
