Hi all,

I've spent the last hour or so looking at past threads to help figure out a vibration/grumbling sound I sporadically get from the front end of my 100 but I haven't found anything that matches my situation.

The truck is an '06 with ~85,000 mi it has the stock AHC suspension with 33" GY Duratracs. The noise is a fairly loud rumbling accompanied by a small amount of vibration that can be felt primarily through the pedals (not so much through the steering wheel). The problem is that it doesn't always do it. I can drive for a few days and not have it happen and then, all of a sudden, it will do it multiple times.

I have recently serviced the wheel bearings and replaced rotors and pads on the front but it was behaving like this prior to that work so I don't THINK they are related. When it does make this noise it is generally under load, either pulling away from a stop, accelerating on the flat or accelerating or maintaining speed going uphill. If I lift off the gas it goes away until I get back on the gas and it never happens when there isn't some load on the drivetrain (just cruising along a flat stretch of road, for instance).

Based on my research here I'm inclined to think spindle bearings/bushing although I would have thought it would be doing it consistently...Could that problem be intermittent? Other thoughts I had were CV's but with only 85,000 mi on factory parts I wouldn't have thought they'd be worn and then I'd expect to hear them clicking, not grumbling.

Any thoughts on other things to look into? Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated as it's starting to drive me nuts!

Thanks!
